Minority stake – realized 2017

Tmax-Group

The Tmax Group develops and manufactures high-temperature insulation for (large) engines used in a vast array of applications.

Tmax has been highly successful in becoming an innovation leader in the area of high-temperature insulation in recent years thanks to its first-class technological expertise and targeted specialization. Founded in 1976, the Group has its head office in Mannheim and foreign subsidiaries primarily in the US and China, and is one of the world’s leading suppliers of thermal and acoustic insulation for engine bays and exhaust systems in industries such as shipbuilding, commercial vehicles (on- and off-highway) and passenger vehicles (premium segment), energy generation, and oil and gas. Its broad customer base primarily comprises international blue-chip companies. The company’s strong growth is driven by regulatory requirements (Euro VI, Tier 4, SOLAS) and the related global trend towards more efficient and environmentally friendly engines and drive systems.

Contact with the Tmax Group came about via the Brockhaus Private Equity network, and a minority stake in the Group was acquired in March 2015. Under the new ownership structure, the Tmax Group strengthened its organization and pressed ahead with its international expansion.

In October 2017, Tmax Group as a whole was sold to financial investor Capvis.
